"PROTEIN" refers with the motif of fried eggs to "Self Portrait with Fried Eggs" (1996) by the British artist Sarah Lucas and addresses feminist issues regarding equal work in general as well as specifically in the field of art. The production technique, using traditional textile handicraft, also plays with attributions. The work was created during the first lockdown in April 2020, while an all-societal displacement of the relations between paid work, care work and education took place and the question of the value of work on the different levels gained a new urgency.
»PROTEIN« nimmt mit dem Motiv der Spiegeleier direkten Bezug zur Arbeit SELF-PORTRAIT WITH FRIED EGGS (1996) der britischen Künstlerin Sarah Lucas und geht so auf feministische Fragestellungen bezüglich gleichberechtigter Arbeit im Allgemeinen sowie speziell auf dem Gebiet der Kunst ein. Auch die Herstellungstechnik in traditioneller textiler Handarbeit spielt mit Zuschreibungen. Die Arbeit entstand während des 1. Lockdowns im April 2020, während eine gesamtgesellschaftliche Verschiebung der Verhältnisse zwischen Lohnarbeit, Care-Arbeit und Bildung stattfand und die Frage nach dem Wert von Arbeit auf den verschiedenen Ebenen eine neue Brisanz erlangte.
